Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you offer a trial class?
Instead of a trial class, we offer a 30-day moneyback guarantee. Our curriculum includes multiple events (beam, bars, vault, etc.), which we alternate each week. One trial class would not allow the student to try all of the gymnastics events. We also understand that it takes children time to adjust to a new coach and environment and begin to feel comfortable in class. We have found that offering new students 30 days to try us out gives them sufficient time to decide if the class is right for them. If it doesn’t work out, simply email us at info@lakesidegymnast.com within 30 days of your first class day and request a refund. We will then process your drop effective immediately and refund your first month’s tuition and membership fee.
-
What curriculum do you use?
We follow the USA Gymnastics curriculum.
-
What is the age range of your classes?
We offer classes for students as young as 6 month old infants to 18 years old.
-
When can I enroll? Do you enroll by session or are your classes ongoing?
Our classes are ongoing. You can sign up and start today!
-
Do you offer a competitive program?
We believe in “gymnastics for all.” There are so many amazing benefits children develop from gymnastics that we want all children to have a place to feel comfortable learning. We use gymnastics as a tool to help children grow their love for fitness, while developing their strength, coordination, balance, flexibility, fine and gross motor skills, cross body movements, and building their brain connections. We want all children to love coming to class and especially, to have fun while they learn gymnastics. For this reason, we have refrained from offering a competitive program. We do however offer a performance team called Hot Shots, where students have the opportunity to receive additional instruction, and perform gymnastics and tumbling routines at city events throughout the year that parents and family are invited to attend. We select students for the Hot Shots team based on class attendance, eagerness to learn, and demonstrated skills.
-
Do you have any showcases or performances?
Outside of our Hot Shots team, we currently do not have showcases or performances. However, parents are always welcome to stay and watch classes.
-
What should my student wear to class?
Students may wear tucked in T-shirts and shorts or leotards for girls. NO chewing gum or dangling jewelry. Hair should be pulled neatly and securely away from the face so that it stays up for the entire workout. Girls should not wear bows or other large hair ornaments that may cause discomfort during activity. All students will be barefoot during classes and events. Personal items should be left in cubby holes. PLEASE LEAVE JEWELRY ARTICLES AT HOME. Our staff will not be responsible for ANY items that may be lost or stolen. Be sure your student's personal items are marked with their name.
-
My child has previous experience from another facility. What level should I enroll them in?
We teach our curriculum in progressions, so we require that all skills of each level be passed off prior to transferring to a more advanced class. Due to varying curriculum at other facilities we ask that you initially enroll in a Level 1 or Beginner class. In the enrollment notes, please add any previous experience your student has and request an evaluation during your first class. Please also speak with your coach during your first class regarding your evaluation. Your coach will determine which class level is appropriate for your student and let you know if a transfer to a more appropriate level is necessary.

What is your makeup class policy?
Once attendance has been submitted for class, students that have been marked absent are generated a makeup token to schedule a makeup class of the same level as their current enrollment. At this time, makeup tokens may also be used toward enrolling in Open Gym. Makeup Tokens expire 60 days from the date of issue. Students are allowed up to 2 Makeup Tokens per month for absences. New makeup tokens will not be generated for no-shows to a makeup class. If you need to cancel or reschedule your makeup class, please contact our receptionist at least 1 day prior to the class.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Makeup tokens are a courtesy from Lakeside Gymnastics. Absent students are not ENTITLED to a makeup class. Your tuition covers your spot in class and prevents others from enrolling in your spot, regardless of whether or not you attend. Allowing makeup classes actually offers you two spots in class for the price of one (the spot in which you did not attend, and your spot in a makeup class). We allow makeup classes simply out of our love for our students and their families and our desire to offer our families flexibility. UNUSED MAKEUP TOKENS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
-
How do I schedule a makeup class?

You may transfer your enrollment at any time through the Customer Portal:
My Account > Enrollments > Transfer
Please Note: You may only transfer to a class within your current level and age range. If you would like to transfer to a new program, you will need to select a Beginner level or Level 1.
-
What if the class I prefer is full?
If the class you prefer is full, you will be given the option to be added to the waitlist. We monitor our waitlist daily and will contact you as soon as an opening becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to enroll in another class that works for you while you wait for your preferred class to have an opening.
-
Am I able to track my student’s progress?
Yes! Every third week of the month is Star Week, our Skill Evaluation week. During Star Week coaches evaluate the skills of each student during class. You may view your student's skill evaluations on the Customer Portal. Please allow one week for all skills to be updated in your account after Star Week. Once your student has passed off all of the skills required for their level, you will receive an email notification that your student is ready to Level Up and transfer classes to the next level. All students that have successfully passed off their level will be presented with a certificate at the end of their next class. Students that are absent during Star Week will need to wait until the next month to be evaluated. If your student’s skill evaluations do not look accurate, please speak with your coach or Coach Ryan, or email us at info@lakesidegymnast.com and we will be happy to look into any inaccuracies for you.
